Adam Tonsfeldt led Barnesville with 18 points as the Trojans claimed an 80-50 Heart O'Lakes conference boys basketball win over the Pelican Rapids Vikings in Pelican Rapids.

Barnesville led 37-29 at the half and had three additional players in double figures as Kellen Hinsz had 17, Hunter Zenzen had 14, and Kaden Zenzen had 12.  Hunter Zenzen added five reboudns and two blocked shots, Kaden Zenzen had three boards and two steals, and Brooks Martinson finished with seven points and four rebounds.  Grant Inniger added three points, six rebounds and two assists, Logan Ernst tallied three points, Jason Henrickson had two points, two rebounds and two assists, and Cameron Heng added two points and four boards.

"What a fantastic game to start our season," said Head Coach Todd Hendrickson.  "We had a slow start, but once we got into the flow of the game, I thought we played great.  Kellen Hinsz had a hot shooting hand early to keep us close, while Hunter Zenzen ended the half on a scoring run.  The second half saw a lot of balance led by Adam Tonsfeldt and Kaden Zenzen as we continued to score points in transition off of turnovers.  I was very impress with our defense tonight.  Offensively, we had four players in double figures and were moving the ball well, finding the open player.  This was a great start to our season."

The Vikings were led in scoring by Hayden Christenson with 11 points and Eli Sytsma had 10.

"We came out and took a 12-4 lead early as we were able to play pretty well for most of the first half," head coach John Gullingsrud commented. "We were up 27-26 with about four minutes left in the half when Barnesville went on a 11-2 run to close the half. They followed that up with an 8-0 run to start the second half and we just couldn't bounce back after they got up double digits on us."

Barnesville improved to 1-0 with the win while Pelican Rapids dropped to 1-3 and 0-2 in the HOL conference.
