The Battle Lake boys basketball team held the Underwood Rockets to just four second half points as they handed Head Coach CJ Peeters his first win on Thursday night, beating the Rockets 60-20 in their Little Eight Conference contest in Underwood.

"We played together andplayed good defense," commented Coach Peeters.  "We shot well, we were clicking.  It was fun to watch our guys play together and make the extra pass."

Nick VanErp (13), Brady VanErp (12) and Riley Leabo (10) were all in double figures for the Battlers.  Leabo added a team high 7 rebounds and Tucker Greer chipped in with 8 points.

"It was difficult for us to keep up with Battle Lake's transition and speed tonight," said Underwood Head Coach Evan Meece.  "We were slowed on offense and couldn't get good looks.  We definitely have some things we need to work on going forward.  We'll take a good hard look at ourselves and be prepared for our next game when we head to Pelican Rapids."

Krosby Aasness and Canaan Kugler led the Rockets with 8 and 6 points, respectively.

Battle Lake (1-2) will host Perham on Tuesday and Parkers Prairie on Thursday to wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule.

Underwood (1-3) is off until Friday, December 28 when they face West Central Area in the Pelican Rapids Holiday Tournament.
