Johnson Scores 31 as Otters Win at Sauk Rapids

Senior Matt Johnson scored 31 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out six assists on Tuesday night to lead the Fergus Falls boys basketball team to a 62-52 Central Lakes Conference road victory over Sauk Rapids-Rice.

 

The game was tied eight times and there were seven lead changes.  The Otters went on an eight point run when the game was tied at 12-12 in the first half to open up an eight point lead, however, the Storm closed the gap to 36-32 at the half.  Fergus Falls hit 8 of their 12 3-point field goals in the first half and had six different players connect from beyond the arc with Johnson accounting for five treys on the night.  The game was tied for the last time at 44-44, but from that point on the Otters outscored the Storm 18-8.

Parker Jacobs finished with eight points and Nic Pearson added 7 points.  Dominic Aguilar distributed five assists, pulled down 4 rebounds and scored 5 points.

Kobe Lee buried five 3-pointers and led the Storm with 17 points.  Cade Milton-Baumgardner added 14 points and Joshua Schloe finished with 10.

Fergus Falls (3-1) will host Alexandria on Friday night at the Kennedy Secondary School.
