The Fergus Falls girls hockey team was playing their fourth game in the last eight days when they hosted East Grand Forks on Saturday afternoon at the Community Ice Arena.  The Greenwave jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one period, saw the Otters cut the lead to 5-4 after two and then scored an insurance goal in the third period to leave town with a 6-4 win.

East Grand Forks got on the board first when Kendra Emery converted a pass from CJ Mack at 5:32.  The Greenwave made it 2-0 on an unassisted goal by Jacelyn Brenden at 6:27.  The Otters answered just eleven seconds later when Sophie Rausch put the puck in the net, assisted by Ellie Andersen and Piper Andrews.  The visitors took a 3-2 lead on another goal by Emery, assisted by Madison McDonald, and extended their lead to 4-1 when McDonald scored from Emery at 14:04.

Rausch completed her hat trick with back-to-back goals in the second period.  The first one was assisted by Hallie Sheridan and the second one by Vivian Karsnia.  McDonald scored from Emery at 10:55 and the Otters finished the period with a goal from Andersen, assisted by Rausch, cutting the lead to 5-4.

The only goal of the third was the third of the game for McDonald, unassisted.

Fergus Falls put 28 shots on the East Grand Forks net and the Greenwave had 22 shots on goal.

"East Grand Forks made plays when they needed to," commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  "We had opportunities but didn't get the job done.  We will get better Monday."

Fergus Falls will play River Lakes in Richmond on Thursday and will travel to Crookston for a noon start next Saturday.
