Otter Wrestlers Claim Two Titles at Grant County Invite

The Fergus Falls wrestling team opened their season by participating in the Grant County Invitational on Saturday in Barrett. 

The Otters boasted a champion at 152 pounds as Kaden Hartwell went 3-0 with three pins. He beat Wyatt Snitker of Alexandria in his quarterfinal match, Bryce Lien of West Central Area-Ashby-Brandon-Evansville in his semifinal match and Gideon Joos of Morris Area-Hancock-Chokio-Alberta in the finals. 

The other champion for the Otters was Dustin Portales at 285. Portales also pinned his three opponents, beating Bryce Feuerhake of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in the quarters, Austin Mattson of the Knights in the semis and Cian Buehler of Ottertail Central in the title match. 

Justin Boyd was third at 132. He opened his day with a fall over Griffin Johnson of Dawson-Boyd-Lac qui Parle-Montevideo United, then lost a 13-1 major decision to Jed Feuchtenberger of Morris Area-Hancock-Chokio-Alberta, before claiming third place by pinning Logan Bock of border West in the consolation semifinal round and then beating Hunter Hanson of the Knights by fall. 

Cole Fronning placed fourth at 160. He won his first match by fall over Bryr Homelvig of Alexandria, but was pinned in his semfinal bout by Dalton Rose of Morris Area-Hancock-Chokio-Alberta. He then won a 4-2 decision over Michael Niesen of Border West in the consolation semifinals before losing the third place match by fall to Nik Gardin of OTC. 

Da’mon Britten placed fifth for the Otters at 106. He had a bye in the quarterfinal round, was pinned by Walker Bents of B-B-E in the semis, was pinned by Zander Clausen of Dawson-Boyd-Lac qui Parle-Montevideo United in the consolation semifinals and then won his fifth place match with a pin over Kolby Peters of Ottertail Central.
