The West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville Knights wrestling team will have some holes to fill with the loss of seven seniors, including five section place winners, three of whom were state qualifiers and two who were state placers. The Knights do return nine section place winners and three state qualifiers from their 17-4 dual meet team, so the cupboard is far from bare.
Senior Wyatt Olson (32-13, 2nd in Section, All-Conference) and Hunter Mickelsen (14-10, 4th in Section), junior Kaleb Getz (28-10, Section Champ, All-Conference), sophomore Jordan Lohse (27-16, 4th in Section, All-Conference) and eighth-grader Anthony Sykora (Second in Section All-Conference) should be the key leaders for the Knights. Other top returners are seniors Alex Butcher (14-11, 3rd in Section) and Hunter Hanson (10-20, 5th in Section), junior Devin Stone (16-19, 4th in Section) and ninth-grader Reubens Swanson (10-25, 4th in Section).
Brandon Gruchow’s team should be a strong contender for the Park Region Conference title and a Section 6A championship.
