The Perham girls basketball team opened the season with a 72-58 home court victory over Henning on Tuesday night.

Mesa Schultz recorded a double-double (28 points, 11 rebounds) to lead the Yellowjackets.  Katie Johnson contributed 19 points, hitting five 3's in the game.  As a team Perham connected on ten 3-pointers on the night, including two from Rachel Muer who finished with 8 points.

"I thought we played really well at times, although our defense broke down in some certain areas that we need to fix," stated Head Coach TJ Super of Perham.  "We played ten girls significant minutes, many of them are young, so we should get better with experience.  It was a fun night in the new gym!"

Henning was led by Kylie Frederick and Megan Weber with 15 and 11 points, respectively.  Abi Eckhoff added 9 points and Faith Fisher had 7.

Perham will travel to Park Rapids for their next action on Monday, December 3, while Henning opens their home season with a Thursday night encounter with Brandon-Evansville.
