Crusaders Hold Otters to 8 Shots on Goal in 9-0 Win

St. Cloud Cathedral held the Fergus Falls boys hockey team to just eight shots on goal Tuesday night as they recorded a 9-0 shutout victory over the Otters at the Community Ice Arena in Fergus Falls.  The Crusaders put 59 shots on the Otter net.

 

"Our first period was okay but we didn't execute very well the rest of the game," said Head Coach Mike Donaghue of the Otters.  "We got beat by a bigger, faster, stronger team tonight."

Cathedral took a 2-0 lead on first period goals by Blake Perbix and Jackson Savoie.  Jon Bell assisted on both goals and Nate Warner added an assist on the Savoie power play goal.

The Crusaders broke the game open with six second period goals.  The onslaught began at 1:04 when Perbix scored his second goal of the night, assisted by Warner.  Thirty-five seconds later Ethan Cumming scored from Savoie and CJ Zins to make it a 4-0 contest.  Unassisted tallies by Nate Martin at 2:30 and Reid Bogenholm at 6:11 increased the Crusaders lead to 6-0.  Perbix completed his hat trick at 10:22 with assists from Jack Smith and Zins.  At 16:14 Smith scored from Warner and Perbix, putting the score at 8-0 after two periods.

The only goal of the tirrd period came from Cullen Hiltner, assisted by Savoie and Cumming at 12:13.

Fergus Falls will travel to Sauk Rapids to face the Storm on Thursday night.
