Otter Girls Post 4-1 Win in Willmar to Improve to 4-1

The Fergus Falls girls hockey team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 4-1 road win in Willmar on Tuesday night.

 

"Lexi McGary got the Otters on the board at 6:34 of the first period with an assist from Amy Johnson.  Sophie Rausch made it 2-0 at 9:29 off an assist by Chloe Nelson.

A goal from Johnson at 5:50 of the second period made it 3-0, Otters.  Liz Mattsonpicked up the assist.  Willmar answered with an unassisted goal from Bailey Olsonand the second period ended with a 3-1 Fergus Falls lead.

The final goal of the game was an empty net tally by Rausch with only two seconds remaining in the final period.

Fergus Falls had 43 shots on goal and Jadyn McKeever stopped 15 of the 16 shots she faced in the Otter net.

"The girls played well tonight coming off our four day break," assessed Head Coach Tim Lill.  "We left a ton of grade A's out there, but credit Savana Knutson, she's a great goaltender.  Amy Johnson with a couple of blue collar back breakers put Willmar to bed." 

Fergus Falls will host Mound Westonka on Friday night at the Community Ice Arena.
