The third seeded Brandon-Evansville volleyball team bumped off the second seeded Henning Hornets in the Section 6A quarterfinals on Friday night in Barrett, winning 23-25, 19-25, 25-20, 27-25, 15-10.

Bailey Schaefer led the attack with 14 kills, added 8 digs and served up to aces.  Brittany Korkowski and Mikenna Pattrin contributed 11 and 10 kills, respectively.  Korkowski was a perfect 15-for-15 at the serving line.  Korrie Randtwas 14-for-15 serving with an ace.  Kailee Klimek added 8 kills and 8 digs.  Madison Quinn distributed 41 set assists, had 2 blocks, 6 digs and 4 ace serves on 19-of-22 serving.  Sara Jacobson had 7 digs and was 20-of-22 at the serving line with one ace.

"After a tough win against Wheaton on Thursday we knew we had to play cleaner tonight, matching up with Henning," stated Head Coach Kelly Olson.  "We wanted to continue to find balance offensively and to do that we had to take care of the ball.  Sets one and two tonight we were a little too far off the net, and although we wer competitive we couldn't get much going, not enough to win the sets any way.  Henning does a lot of stuff on their side of the net.  Multiple times we lost their hitters and didn't get a block up.  What we told our team was to be fundamental in their play.  Do what we practice.  In the third set our ball control came around and we continued to serve tough.  We saw a shift in momentum and we snuck back into the match.  Those last three sets were some fun volleyball to be a part of.  Down 0-2 and coming back to win was huge for this team.  When the match got tight I felt our kids just kept attacking and kept trying to pressure Henning.  We talk a lot about being okay with failing, as long as you go down on your terms.  Tonight we just happen to be on the upside."

The Chargers will play Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Tuesday at 7:00pm in Barrett.
