The Fergus Falls Otters saw their season come to an end on their home turf Tuesday night as the Rocori Spartans handed the Otters a 14-7 loss in the opening round of the Section 8AAAA playoffs.  Fergus Falls ends the season with a record of four wins and five losses.

Rocori struck in the first quarter when Luke Humbert capped a thirteen play, 67-yard drive with a one yard touchdown run.  The two point conversion try failed and the Spartans led 6-0.

Ian Richards recovered a Rocori fumble in the third quarter, giving the Otters possession on their own 25 yard line.  They went 75 yards in 5 plays with an Ethan Olson to Cole Fronning pass covering 21 yards during the drive and Cole Knudson finishing with a three yard touchdown run.  Shane Wahlund's extra point kick gave the Otters a 7-6 lead.

An Otter fumble gave the ball to Rocori near midfield late in the fourth quarter and the Spartans scored the winning touchdown on a ten yard pass from Camdyn Bauerto Christopher Clark.  They also successfully converted the two point pass to put the final score at 14-7.

Rocori outgained the Otters 234 to 167.  Humbert ran the ball 27 times for 105 yards to lead the ground attack for the Spartans.

Ethan Olson completed 12-of-29 passes for 117 yards, but the Otters managed only 50 rushing yards in the game.

"This was a good defensive battle," said Head Coach Steve Olson of the Otters.  "Our defense played really well all night long.  We struggled to get a ground game going and that limited our effectiveness on offense.  I'd like to thank the seniors for putting all the work in throughout the year and wish them the best."

Rocori will play at top-seeded Detroit Lakes on Saturday afternoon.
