The Underwood Rockets ran for 356 yards Tuesday night as they posted a 42-12 victory over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in the quarterfinal round of the Section 4 9-Man football playoffs.

Zane Swanson got Underwood on the board one minute into the game when he broke loose for a 43 yard touchdown run. Daxton Olson carried the ball in for the two point conversion, giving the Rockets an 8-0 lead. They increased their lead to 14-0 with 4:15 left in the opening quarter when Thomas Noyes ran the ball in from fifteen yards out.

Swanson scored on runs of 18 and 34 yards in the second quarter and Wyatt Thorson scored on a one yard run as the Rockets extended their lead to 36-0 at halftime. Swanson and Noyes added two point conversion runs in the quarter.

Ninety seconds into the third quarter Nik Gardin found the end zone from four yards out for the final Underwood touchdown. C-G-B got a 7 yard TD run from Nate Moberg in the third quarter and a 21 yard touchdown run from Moberg in the fourth to close out the scoring.

“The key tonight was our ability to run the ball and our pass defense,” said Head Coach Chuck Ross of Underwood. “Zane Swanson had his best night rushing with 166 yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns behind an offensive line that opened some nice holes. Defensively, we had three interceptions, adding to our season high of 20 which is a new school record. You have to give credit to our defensive line that put pressure on their QB all night long.”

Moberg ran for 143 yards on 23 carries to lead the Wolverines.

Levi Blaskowski led the Underwood defense with six tackles and a sack. Tim Devaney added 5.5 tackles, Winston Heifort recorded a sack, and Noah Schleskeand Nick Seiple each had half of a sack.

Underwood will host Wheaton/Herman-Norcross in a section semifinal contest at 2:00pm Saturday.
