The 35th Annual Underwood Volleyball Invitational was held on Thursday with CGB beating KMS 2-0 (25-19, 25-19) in the Gold Division championship and New York Mills won the Silver Division championship over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 2-0 (25-20, 25-13).

Underwood started out the day with a great win against CGB, 25-12, 25-19.

“We had all engines on fire for that match,” said Underwood Head Coach Diane Ross. “Every part of our game looked good and we finished each set strong.  In our last two matches we did not finish strong and both Sebeka (25-19, 19-25, 15-13) and KMS (20-25, 26-24, 15-9) got us in the end.  Overall we did some good things throughout the day, our serving was aggressive and consistent, our blocking was good, and we were swinging at the ball pretty well.  We need to fix untimely errors. We finished our regular season 16-10 and we are looking forward to play offs next week.”

Leaders for the Rockets were Emma Fitzgibbons (27 kills, 37 set assists, 29/30 serving with 4 aces, 16 digs, and 2 stuff blocks), Brooke Hovland (19 kills, 8 digs, 3 stuff blocks), Shaynah Smith (18 kills, 3 ace serves and 11 stuff blocks), Isabel Dahl (5 ace serves, 18 digs), Daityn Beske (22 set assists, 19/19 serving), Ally Johnson (6 kills, 8 ace blocks), Morgan Evavold (20 digs, 25/27 serving, 2 aces) and Kayla Rocholl (23/25 serving, 3 aces, 37 digs).
