Bulldogs Complete 8-0 Regular Season with win Over Knights

The Ottertail Central football team completed a perfect 8-0 regular season with a 42-2 win over West Central Area/Ashby on Wednesday night in Barrett.

The Bulldogs went 52 yards in 9 plays on their first possession of the night with Austin Wensauer scoring on a five yard run.  Nick VanErp hit Brennan Amundson with the two point conversion pass and OTC led 8-0 with 8:52 left in the opening quarter.  The Bulldogs made it 16-0 on their next possession as Sam Fisher hauled in a 15 yard TD pass from Blake Wallevand and Fisher then hit Amundson with the two point conversion pass.

The Knights had their best drive of the night stopped on downs at the three yard line, however, their defense shut down the Bulldogs and JJ Sabolik trapped quarterback Nick VanErp in the end zone for a safety to get WCA/Ashby on the scoreboard.

Ottertail Central added a third first half touchdown when Max Naddy scored on a five yard run.  Amundson caught another two point conversion pass from VanErp and the Bulldogs led 24-2 at the half.

In the third quarter OTC capitalized on a fumble by the Knights which gave them the ball at the WCA/Ashby 28 yard line.  Blake Wallevand scored on a one yard run with 6:16 left in the quarter and OTC led 30-2.  A 12-play, 77-yard scoring drive on their next possession ended with a 22 yard TD run by Wallevand, making the score 36-2 with 10:28 left in the fourth quarter.  Freshman quarterback Tanner Arndt connected with Blaine Wallevand on a 30 yard pass play for the final score of the game.

Naddy had a big night on both sides of the ball, rushing for 105 yards on 13 carries, and leading the team in tackles from his linebacker spot.  Wensauer added 62 yards on 17 carries.  OTC had 331 yards of offense with 269 cominig on the ground.

The Knights finished with 131 yards.  They were led by Christian Norby with 34 yards on 5 carries.  Isaiah Sykora completed 4-of-8 passes for 61 yards.  Leading receivers were Jaden Norby with 2 catches for 19 yards and Tate Christenson with 23 yards on one reception.  Christian Norby caught the other pass for 19 yards.

West Central Area/Ashby finishes the regular season with a 4-4 record and will play a first round playoff game at Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta on Tuesday night.
