The Pelican Rapids Vikings traveled to New York Mills Tuesday to take on the top ranked Eagles. New York Mills won the match in three sets.

“The Vikings knew they would put up a big block and run a quick offense,” said Head Coach Heidi Isaman. “Adriana TorresGrace PetersonKaylie Isaman, and Riley Berg played great defense all night against the Eagles big hitters. We had some struggles putting up an effective block on their quick offense so our defense had to dig up a lot of balls and did a great job all night with this. When we were in system, our hitters did a great job of powering through their block and cutting through the blockers hands. We balanced our hitters well and moved them around as best we could. We had several setting errors on the night to prevent our outside hitters to get in the rhythm we usually have. We also had a hard time hitting aggressive out of system which is usually our strength. The Eagles” setter did an amazing job of finding the open court and attacking on second ball. We struggled putting up a block on her. The Vikings worked extremely hard all night but just came up short.”

Stat leaders for the Vikings were Greta Tollefson (6 kills), Sarah Thompson (13 set assists, 10 digs), Kaylie Isaman (13 digs, 2 aces), Riley Berg (13 digs, 4 kills), Adriana Torres (4 kills, 13 digs, 1 block), Grace Peterson (9 digs, 1 ace) and Ryley Paulson (4 kills, 1 ace).
