The Ashby volleyball team won their Little Eight Conference match against Parkers Prairie in five sets, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 16-25, 15-13 on Tuesday night in Ashby.

“I can’t express enough how proud I am tonight after this win, my girls showed up in full force,” said Ashby Head Coach Hayley Stevens. “After a couple weeks of struggling with team togetherness things clicked and they came together and won this as one unit. After a weekend tournament in Bertha-Hewitt where our serving suffered we were back to top performance at the line. With 92% at the line I couldn’t have been happier with this number. We had multiple girls at 100% for serving and the others were close behind.”

The Arrows were led by Aanika Anderson (13/13 serving, 3 aces, 9 kills, 9 digs), Amelia Barry (17/17 serving, 5 aces, 26 assists, 10 digs), Brynn Krupke (14/20 serving, 3 aces, 15 kills, 4 blocks, 6 digs), Josey Ness (19/19 serving, 3 aces, 2 kills, 14 digs), Madeline Thompson (14/14 serving, 2 kills, 9 digs), Courtney Koefod (18/20 serving, 2 aces, 2 kills, 41 digs), Halle Dahlen (5 blocks) and Anissa Heinrich (5 digs).

“Amelia Barry was on tonight after working hard this last week with extra setting drills and her 26 assists were what my front row needed,” said Coach Stevens. “I was extremely proud of her hustle. Krupke, Anderson, and Ness worked the front row attacking all night while Dahlen put up a great defensive wall getting multiple touches on blocks and 5 ace blocks. Koefod, Heinrich, Thompson, Barry, Ness, and Anderson were able to stay on their toes in the back court tonight and transitioning from offense to defense and back again happened in just the right fashion to get the girls where they needed to be. Parkers’ front offensive has depth and they attacked from all sides so anticipation was what we kept focusing on throughout all five. This isn’t and wasn’t about 6 girls on the court but the whole team - we depend on our bench to be ready in a seconds notice and they are always ready to compete when called upon, I appreciated their noise and encouragement throughout the game and hope that each player realizes their importance to the program.”

The Arrows will host Hillcrest Thursday in their Parents’ Night contest during homecoming week.

“This season has been about growth on and off the court and consistency, our lack of togetherness has hurt us at times and the thing I have wanted the girls to take out of this season the most is that they need to count on one another and trust what their teammates can do for them and last night this is exactly what I saw,” said Stevens. “We are hoping to keep this fire going!”
