The Ottertail Central Bulldogs matched up with the Thunder from LPGE on Friday night and the Bulldogs ran their season record to 5-0 with a 46-14 victory.

It did not take OTC long to get on the scoreboard as Sam Fisher returned the opening kickoff to the Thunder’s 35 yard line and on the next play Austin Wensauer took the ball in for the score. Max Naddy added a 2 point conversion on a run around the right side. OTC then scored again when Naddy ran one in from 8 yards out. Soon after Blake Wallevand intercepted a pass and Nick VanErpscored on a run around the left side. After the 1st quarter OTC had a 20-0 lead.

The second quarter was all Bulldogs as well. Nick VanErp hooked up with Brennen Amundson for a 17 yard touchdown score and Nick Miller kicked in the extra point. Halfway through the quarter Austin Wensauer scored his second touchdown from 26 yards out and Miller’s kick was again good. The next possession Bulldog’s Riley Leabo picked off a pass, but the Thunder created a turnover as well. With 5 minutes left in the half OTC’s Sam Fisher had the Bulldog’s 3rd pick of the game which led to 75 yard touchdown pass from VanErp to Fisher.   The score at the half ended OTC 40 and LPGE 0.

In the second half the Thunder were forced to punt their opening possession away and OTC drove the ball down the field and hammered in a touchdown from Max Naddy. To take the score to 46-0.

The rest of the game saw a lot of action for OTC’s up and coming players. Many young athletes were able to gain some valuable experience against LPGE’s varsity team. LPGE scored twice late in the game to make the final score 46-14.

Defensively the Bulldogs were led by strong games Caden Johnson, Max Naddy, Hayden HartAdam Lange and Nathan Stavaas. Naddy, Blake Wallevand, and Riley Leabo had interceptions, and Cian Buhler and Adam Lange each had a QB sack.

Offensively, OTC was led by Austin Wensauer rushing for 97 yards and a couple of TD. Max Naddy had 3 TD as well. Nick VanErp was 7-14 passing for 162 yards and 2 TD.

The Bulldogs advance to 5-0 and will travel to play a very strong Breckenridge team on Friday night.
