The Pelican Rapids Vikings traveled to Battle Lake Thursday, October 4 for a section matchup. The Vikings played the Battlers earlier in the season at the Pelican Rapids Invitational and won in 2 close sets. This time around the Vikings closed out the Battlers in 3 sets, 26-24, 25-20, 25-14.

“We knew they put up a big block and had a big offensive threat with their middle hitter, Allison Marso,” stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach Heidi Isaman. “The Vikings hit the ball very powerfully tonight. Ryley Paulson was our go to girl. She hit very powerfully and cut off the blockers all night to be our kill leader. Setter Sarah Thompson played her best game in a long time. She did a great job of going pin to pin to get their blockers to move. She put the ball right where our hitters needed it to come in with a solid approach. Right side hitter Anna Stephenson and middle hitter Greta Tollfeson hit the ball much better tonight and had some big kills for us.”

Stat leaders were Thompson (28 set assists, 2 aces, 12 digs), Paulson (12 kills), Kaylie Isaman (21 digs, 3 aces), Adriana Torres (8 kills, 5 digs), Riley Berg (6 kills), Tollefson (5 kills, 1 block), Grace Peterson (7 digs, 1 block) and Stephenson (4 kills).

Pelican Rapids will travel to Staples on Tuesday night.
