The Barnesville football team recorded their fifth consecutive victory when they traveled to Roseau on Friday night and returned home with a 32-6 win over the Rams.

"We had a heck of an issue holding onto the ball tonight coming out of center," related Barnesville Head Coach Bryan Strand.  "I'm not sure if it was getting starting center Jackson Poepping back and he is snapping with his opposite hand, or the cold conditions, but we put the ball on the ground nine or ten times tonight which is unheard of for our offense.  We lost three of those balls.  Defensively, we shut them down on their first wo drives and then on the third drive we had some breakdowns and they broke a long TD.  Roseau had 81 yards in the first quarter, most of it on that third drive, but we held them to 123 yards for the entire game.  Once we got settled in we were fine.  We had a breakdown, fixed it and then moved on."

Barnesville led 16-6 at the half, scoring on a 12 yard pass from Preston Snobl to Hunter Zenzen and a two-point run by Snobl, and then on a 12 yard run by Kellen Hinsz and two-point conversion pass from Snobl to Chase Brenner.

"We talked about cleaning up our game at half, playing solid football and finishing the game," said Strand.  Well, we got the kick-off and in about three plays fumbled the ball to Roseau inside the 20 yard line.  Our defense held and in four plays we got the ball back.  Offensively, we just couldn't get on target until late in the third quarter when we started to drive the ball."

Barnesville scored on a two yard run by Snobl and a conversion pass to Brenner to take a 24-6 lead and then finished the scoring when Brenner scored again, followed by the conversion run by Hunter Anderson.

Nick Detloff (11 carries, 89 yards), Chase Brenner (9 carries, 70 yards) and Preston Snobl (14 carries, 66 yards) were the rushing leaders for the Trojans.  Barnesville had 263 rushing yards and 344 total yards on the night.  Snobl completed 8-of-11 passes for 81 yards.  Zenzen caught 4 balls for 49 yards and Brenner had 10 yards on 2 receptions.

Defensive leaders were Zenzen with 10 tackles, Brooks Martinson with 6 tackles, and Brenner with an interception.

"We were just sloppy with the ball and not crisp on offense," stated Strand.  "We have tough games with Crookston, Hawley and Breckenridge to finish the season.  We have to be sharp, a lot sharper than we were tonight.  Crookston has been a bit up and down, but I expect them to give us a great game this week, and then we get ready for Hawley."
