Strong Fourth Quarter Carries C-G-B to 32-26 Win Over B-E

Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley overcame a 26-16 deficit by scoring 16 fourth quarter points on Friday in Graceville, recording a 32-26 victory over the Brandon-Evansville Chargers. 

 

After a scoreless first quarter the Chargers got on the board when Keagan Schielecompleted a 17 yard pass to Marshall Riedel with 11 minutes left in the first half. The two-point conversion try failed and the Chargers led 6-0. C-G-B took an 8-6 lead less than three minutes later on a 42 yard pass from Sam Adelman to Isaac Haanen and a two-point pass from Adelman to Dylan Finberg. The Wolverines went in front 16-6 on an 18 yard run by Nate Moberg and a two-point conversion run by Adelman with 3:15 to play in the half, however, B-E scored with one minute to go in the half when Schiele and Sam Fuller connected on a 22 yard TD pass, cutting the lead to 16-12 at the break. 

With 9:45 left in the third quarter Brandon-Evansville regained the lead at 18-16 on a 20 yard pass from Schiele to Riedel. With four minutes left in the third the Chargers extended their lead to 26-16 on a 48 yard run by Riedel and a two-point conversion pass from Schiele to Luke Moore

C-G-B pulled to within two points when Adelman scored the touchdown on a 3 yard run and scored the two-point conversion. With four minutes left on the clock Adelman and Damian Deutsch hooked up on a 9 yard pass for the winning points. Adelman then hit Finberg for the two-point conversion to put the final score at 32-26. 

Brandon-Evansville had 328 yards of total offense with 205 passing and 123 rushing, while C-G-B ran for 194 yards and passed for 115, giving them a total of 309 yards in the game. 

For the Chargers, Schiele completed 13-of-25 passes for 205 yards and three TDs. Riedel was the leading receiver with eight catches for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Fuller caught five passes for 111 yards and a TD. Riedel carried the ball 14 times for 84 yards and one score. Defensively, Cade Carlson had 12.5 tackles to lead the way. Mike Cochran and Tony Schaffran added 9 and 8 tackles, respectively, and Riedel had 7.5 tackles. 

Sam Adelman threw the ball 19 times, completing 10 passes for 115 yards and 2 TDs to lead C-G-B. His top receiver was Deutsch with 4 catches for 40 yards and Casey Dahl with 3 catches for 16 yards. Moberg led the ground attack with 110 yards on 32 carries and Adelman ran for 74 yards on 15 attempts.
