The Pelican Rapids boys' soccer team avenged an earlier heart-breaking loss to former co-op Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Saturday with an emphatic 7-1 victory at home amid cold and wet weather conditions.

Mohamed Isse opened the Vikings account finishing off a counter attack set up by Khadar Ibrahim as Isse scored 4 minutes into the game. 5 minutes later, he scored again when Alan Villagomez crossed it to Isse who hit a one time shot into the back of the net.   Shortly after, the Comets scored to make the score 2-1 but with 12 minutes to play in the first half, Oscar Diaz found Jesus Moreno, who converted to put the Vikings ahead 3-1 going into the half.

In the second half, the Vikings continued their solid passing and Farhan Omaradded 3 goals to earn his first career hat-trick. The Comets also had an own goal to bring the final score to 7-1. The win moves the Vikings to 6-3-1 and now they prepare for two tough road games against Detroit Lakes (Tuesday) and East Grand Forks (Thursday).

In JV action, the Vikings won 3-1 and move to 6-3-0 on the season.
