The Hillcrest Comets Boys Soccer Team defeated the Fergus Falls Otters by the score of 3-2 at the Otter Stadium on Thursday.

The Otter scored first, off a blast from Seth Hexum from outside the box, midway through the first half.  The goal was assisted by Abdallah Abdallah.  Five minutes later, Iver Honningdal, scored with a header for the Comets, off a Markus Flugecorner kick.  With a minute left in the first half, Iver Honningdal found Eirik Primavera on the right side of the field with a pass.  Eirik made a spectacular cross over inside the box and scored with a left footer, ending the half with the Comets up one.  Midway through the second half, the Comets were called for handball in the box.  Seth Hexum scored on the resultant PK, tying the score.  With just three minutes left in the game, the Otters were called for a handball in their box, during a Comet corner kick.  Markus Fluge converted the pk opportunity into the winning goal.

“I thought the Otters played hard and very well,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Rod Jensen.  “We had several scoring opportunities, but the Otter goal tending by Ian Stumbo was spectacular.  We had excellent defensive efforts from James ChoJowell Seymour, senior Tri-Captain Nick Foss.  Midfielders Iver Honningdahl, Trevor Antuna and senior Tri captains HeeTae Nam and Camden Hoganson, applied great pressure in the midfield throughout the game.”

The Comets now 8-3 take on Pelican Rapids High School on Saturday.

"The boys played with heart and passion in this game," said Fergus Falls Head Coach Steven Ness.  "I was very pleased with the way they played and Ian Stumbo made some incredible saves for us in goal.  It was a fun game to be a part of."

The Otters are home against Sauk Rapids-Rice on Tuesday.
