The Underwood volleyball team finished in twelfth place at the Class A Showcase Tourney held at the Midwest Volleyball Warehouse in Burnsville on Saturday.

The Rockets placed third in their pool as the lost to Mabel/Canton 2-0 (25-16, 25-8) and Minneota 2-0 (25-7, 25-12), while beating Stephen-Argyle 2-1 (25-23, 17-25, 15-9).

"It was some pretty tough pool play going against number seven rated Mabel/Canton and number two rated Minneota," stated head coach Diane Ross.  "I thought we played pretty decent volleyball against them, but those are tough teams to score against.  The win against Stephen-Argyle was hard fought and I was proud of the girls for sticking to the game plan and battling for the win."

With the third place finish in their pool the Rockets were placed in the Bronze Division where they lost to Barnesville and then Lewiston/Altura.

"We go to this tourney for an opportunity to see different teams from around the state," said Ross.  "It was a chance for us to learn and improve."

The Rockets were led by Emma Fitzgibbons (28 kills, 23 assists, 3 ace serves, 25 digs), Shaynah Smith (13 kills, 6 ace blocks), Brooke Hovland (12 kills, 9 digs), Reese Richards (25 assists), Ally Johnson (6 kills, 4 ace blocks, Ceri Meech (6 kills, 4 ace blocks), Kayla Rocholl (42 digs), Isabel Dahl (21 digs, 7 ace serves) and Morgan Evavold (15 digs, 6 ace serves).  Josey Bugbee added 3 ace blocks and Dawsen Beske had 9 digs.

The Rockets are now 8-8 and will travel to Breckenridge to face the Cowgirls on Monday.
