The Barnesville volleyball team faced Breckenridge in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference match on Thursday night with the Trojans sweeping past the Cowgirls 25-22, 26-24, 25-20.

“Great intensity in the gym tonight to kick-off a HOL conference match,” said Barnesville Head Coach Megan Askegaard. “We came out strong with a 9-2 start right off the bat. The girls played relentlessly on defense and made some unbelievable hustle plays out on the floor. Game 2 we came out with the same fire, but just gave up too many points on defense. We weren’t reading right and closing our block up on the net. We found ourselves battling from behind at 17-24 before Emily Condon laid down some tough serves and flustered the Cowgirls. Elora Passa went at them attacking all holes in their defense. We pulled out an awesome comeback. These girls just don’t give up and battle back to win the match. We took control to end the night with solid play in game 3.”

Serving leaders for the lady Trojans were Condon (20/21, 3 aces), Kya Anderson(17/18, 1 ace), Kimberly Maesse (11/12, 1 ace) and Passa (10/10, 1 ace).  Defensively, Samantha Passa and Anderson led the way with 24 and 23 digs, respectively. Elora Passa and Condon had 15 digs apiece and Maesse added 11. Maesse distributed 19 set assists and Elora Passa had 11. Elora Passa led the attack with 19 kills and Samantha Passa contributed 8 kills.
