Brandon-Evansville hosted Ashby in a Little Eight Conference volleyball match on Thursday with the Chargers posting a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-10) victory over the Arrows.

“After a week of no matches I knew we needed to have a lot of heart and hustle to be successful against a scrappy Ashby team,” reported Head Coach Kelly Olson of the Chargers. “I think that hustle got us through those first two close sets until we found our rhythm. We discussed this before and after the match how important it is to keep hustling. Hustle can get you through rough patches. We were out of system those first two sets enough and gave up quite a few points on errors, but we ended each of those set strong. We did a good job of keeping pressure on Ashby and when we started to control our side of the net we were much more successful. The Ashby team plays hard and get a lot of touches defensively. I thought we did a good job of playing through their strengths until we had opportunities to finish. The third set we got up quick and just kept going. It was a great ending to a hard fought match.” Mikenna Pattrin and Bailey Schaefer led the attack with nine kills each. Madison Quinn distributed 19 set assists. Quinn and Schaefer each had a pair of blocks and Pattrin added one.

The Chargers served up 17 aces and served 92% for the match. Sara Jacobson(19/20, 7 aces), Schaefer (10/13, 5 aces), Quinn (10/11, 3 aces), Brittany Korkowski (10/10, 1 ace), Korrie Randt (7/7) and Kailee Klimek (13/14, 1 ace) were the serving leaders for B-E.
