The two teams combined for 818 yards of total offense with Hillcrest gaining 406 (106 passing, 300 rushing) and Park Christian 412 (73 passing, 339 rushing).

Park Christian lost 3 fumbles and the only Hillcrest turnover was an interception.

Ethan Jorgensen of the Falcon ran for 279 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Ian Ziebarth had 58 yards and 2 TDs. Quarterback Payton Spaeth completed 6-of-9 passes for 73 yards.

Defensive leaders for the Comets were Zwiers (8 solo tackles), Vall (6.5 tackles), Anthony Panza (5.5 tackles) and Caden Fischer (5 tackles).

“Our guys gave it everything they had tonight and we came up just short,” commented Hillcrest Head Coach Derrick Clark. “Down two scores with less than ten minutes left we told the guys it was now or never and they responded with a couple of scoring drives and a big fourth down. We went for two after the last touchdown as we felt we had the momentum and Park Christian did a great job stopping us. We were able to get the onside kick and get into field goal range at the end, but couldn’t convert. I’m very proud of the way our guys played tonight and the way they fought back to give us a couple of opportunities to win this game. Again, hats off to Park Christian on a great game.”

Hillcrest will play at Underwood on Friday night.
