Underwood football coach Chuck Ross is in his 21st year leading the Rockets.  Coming off a 3-6 season a year ago, Ross believes the 2018 version of his team has an excellent chance of improving that win total.

"Our main goal is to get better as each day goes on, but I really look at us being more competitive than we have been the past two years," says Ross.  "I think that if some of our younger players can contribute we have a chance to improve in the win column."

The Rockets lost seven seniors to graduation but return seniors Daxton Olson (QB/DB), Levi Blaskowski (DE/WR), Thomas Noyes (RB/DB), Nick Seiple (TE/DE) and Thomas Kaste (G/NG).

Several juniors appear ready to step up and contribute at the varsity level, including skill position players Wyatt Thorson, Winston Heifort, Zane Swanson, Nick Gardin, Chase Janu and Noah Schleske, along with linemen Tyson Rieken, Logan Johansen, Logan Aune and Tim DeVaney.

"A lot of our players have varsity experience and we should have more depth this year," said Ross.  "We have to get better at the basic fundamentals, blocking and tackling."

Curt Olson, Ryan Hendrickson, Brian Hovland, Dean Woodman, Evan Meece and Casey Foertsch will assist Ross during the 2018 season.

Ross sees Brandon/Evansville as the District and Section favorite.
