The Spartan Golf Invitational was held on Sunday at Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls. The Spartan Blue Team won the title with a score of 318 in extreme wind conditions. The Spartan Gold Team was second with a 330 total and UM-Morris was third at 381.

Carter Justesen of M State was the medalist with a four-over par 76 and teammate Hunter Moen was runner-up with a 77. Rounding out the scoring for the Blue Team were Wyatt Blomseth (81), Austin Miller (84) and Blake Bloedorn (86).

Trevor Dalbec had his lowest score of the year with a 79 to lead the Gold Team. He was followed by Ethan Lundebrek (80), Jordan Kern (83) and Sam Priem (88).

“It was a brutal day for the wind, so while our scores weren’t quite where we like them, it was extremely tough and we had some very nice performances,” said Spartan Head Coach Jason Retzlaff. “Carter Justesen has been as a rock and he played great again today. Hunter has been very steady his last three rounds and it was good to see Trevor Dalbec and Jordan Kern have their lowest rounds of the year. Overall, the day was a very nice test of our patience and how to handle some extreme winds.”

The Spartans will next compete on Thursday at the Cougar Invitational at Pomme de Terre Golf Course in Morris.
