The Underwood girls’ basketball team overcame a 28-24 halftime deficit in Barrett on Monday night to register a 65-53 victory over the West Central Area Knights.  “I was real proud of how the girls battled in this one, both physically and mentally,” stated Underwood head coach Brian Hovland.  “WCA is a big, physical team, and we found a way to get the win on the road.”

Aubrey Borgos had a big night for the Rockets, scoring 26 points and adding 5 steals, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.  Lauren Hexum scored 15 points, while dishing out 4 assists, and Trinity Baker had a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) to go along with 8 steals.

“We got some very good minutes from our bench players tonight,” said Hovland.  “Aubrey Hexum, Jaida Koehn, Annabelle Evavold, and Clara Mark came in when we needed them at crucial times.”

Izzy Puchalski led West Central Area with 19 points and Brinley Ulrich also reached double figures with 10.

Underwood (15-3) has a Little Eight Conference game at Battle Lake on Thursday.

West Central Area (10-8) will play a 1:30pm game at Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday.
