FF Jr. Legion Splits with East Grand Forks

The Fergus Falls Jr. Legion Post 30 split with East Grand Forks on Tuesday night, winning the opening game 11-5 and dropping the nightcap 2-4.

 

In the first game, Post 30 got on the Board in the top of the first with 3 runs when Caleb Fronning reached on an error and scored on Nolan Felstul’s double. Dexter Felstul finished the scoring in the top of the first with a 2 RBI single, scoring Brody Krein and Brant Scheuerman. Post 30 pushed the lead to 4-0 in the top of the 5th when Dexter Felstul singled and scored Scheuerman who singled earlier in the inning. Fergus Falls tacked another run on in the top of the 6th when Brody Krein singled in Micaiah Abramson who singled earlier in the inning. Post 30 put the game away in the top of the 7th when Josh Horgen, Jacob Jenc, and Cam Peterson all singled to load the bases. Benett Thielke drew a bases loaded walk to score a run, Caleb Fronning reached on an error to score another, Nolan Felstul singled to bring in two, and Horgen singled to score the final run. Caleb Fronning threw a strong 5 and 1/3 innings, only giving up 3 hits while striking out 7. Hitting leaders in the first game were Nolan Felstul (2b) and Dexter Felstul both with 2 hits and 3 RBI’s, Horgen and Scheuerman each added two hits, and Krein, Jenc, Peterson, and Abramson all tacked on one hit.

In the nightcap, Post 30 was held off the board until the top of the 7th when they mounted a rally and threatened East Grand Forks. Eli Fullhart made the defensive play of the year in left field when he robbed a sure double with a leaping catch.  In the inning, Abramson walked to lead off the inning, moved to third on Fronning’s double, and came around to score on Nolan Felstul’s single. Krein followed Nolan Felstul’s single with a single of his own, scoring Fronning. Post 30 ended up loading the bases but couldn’t scratch a couple more on the board. Hitting leaders for game two were Nolan Felstul and Brody Krein with two hits each, Fronning, Peterson, and Thielke all had one hit.

Post 30 returns home on Wednesday night to host Moorhead at 4 and 6 at Farmer’s Field.
