The Perham Buzz split their American Legion baseball double header with Moorhead on Tuesday, falling in the first game, 7-5 in 8 innings, but winning game two by the score of 7-2. Riley Dickhaus launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth, breaking a 5-5 tie and handing the Spuds the walk-off win in game one. The homer was his second of the game. In the second game, Brody Blume drove in four runs with a seventh inning grand slam to lift the Buzz to victory.
The Buzz dropped the first game despite out-hitting Moorhead, 11-6. Jayden Schrupp led Perham with 3 hits. Schrupp, Tate Zacharias, Blume and Lyam Schumacher each drove in a run for Perham and Zacharias stole a pair of bases.
Conner Zimmerman (3.2IP, 2H, 0R, 0K, 1BB) was the winning pitcher for the Blues, in relief of starter Ben Fredrickson (4.1IP, 9H, 5R, 2K, 0BB). Dickhaus went 3-for-3 at the plate with 3 runs batted in and Carson Hensch drew three of the six Moorhead walks.
Blaiz Schmidt (7IP, 8H, 2R, 0ER, 6K, 2BB) earned the win on the mound for Perham in game two.
Schumacher (2-4, RBI) led Perham at the plate, while Gavin Griffin and Schmidt each drew a pair of walks. Griffin swiped two bases in the contest.
Perham will travel to Fergus Falls for a double header on Thursday at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park.
