The Alexandria Girls Golf Team completed play on the first day of the State AAA Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids. The team came in as the #5 seed and worked their way into the top 4 teams at the end of the day. With 18 holes to play Wednesday morning, only 7 shots separate the teams in second through fourth place.
“We were able to bunch five scores between 79 and 86, so our depth was a key to our position after the first day,” noted Alexandria head coach Timothy Zupfer. “Ellie Sticha led the way with a score of 79 and is tied for 15th place individually. Another notable score came from senior Haley Srock, who posted a career best score of 83. The team is determined to battle and compete for all 18 holes on Wednesday.”
Other scores for the Cardinals included an 84 for Rachel Bowen, an 85 for Mattea LeClair, an 86 for Cadence Simon and a 90 for Kaiya Chapin.
Minnetonka leads the team scoring with a 305. Maple Grove is second at 324, Wayzata third at 326 and Alexandria fourth at 331. East Ridge 340, Elk River 345, Mahtomedi 347 and Owatonna 361 round out the team scoring.
