The Fergus Falls Canes hosted the Dilworth Raildogs on Sunday afternoon at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park and the Canes won on a walk-off bases loaded single by Carter Thielke. Darin Stanislawski (5IP, 4K, 0BB, 4H, 1R, 1ER) was the winning pitcher in relief of Thielke.
The Canes jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. With one out, Alex Hensch singled and Tosten Mann doubled him home. A Stanislawski double plated Mann.
Dilworth tied the game with single runs in the fourth and sixth innings. In the fourth, Andrew Herian reached second base on an outfield error to lead things off. Owen Hoover then reached on a fielder’s choice, with Herian taking third base on an infield error. After a strikeout and an infield pop out, Sterling Haphey was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jace Dew drew a walk, forcing in a run and a fly out ended the inning. In the sixth an Hoover single got things started and after a pop out, Hoover moved to second on a single by Luke Kallod. Haphey then brought Hoover in with a base hit, tying the game at 2-2.
The winning run was setup when Hensch singled and moved to second on an errant pickoff throw. A bunt single by Mann moved Hensch to third base and Stanislawski was intentionally walked, filling the bases. Thielke then delivered the game winning base hit.
Hensch (3-5, 2R, SB), Mann (2-4, 2B, RBI, R) and Stanislawski (1-3, 2B, RBI, 2IBB) led the Canes at the plate. Thielke (4IP, 5K, 2BB, 3H, 1R, 0ER) was the starting pitcher.
Owen Hoover led Dilworth with a 3-for-4 day at the plate.
The canes improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in league play. Their next game is at home against the Hawley Hawks on Thursday at 7:30pm.
