The Perham girls’ softball team finished the regular season on a high note with a pair of wins on Thursday over Pelican Rapids, giving the Yellowjackets eight wins in their last ten games. Perham won 13-11 in the first game of their double header and then ended the second game in four inning with a 17-2 victory.
“The girls are playing some of their best ball right now and are excited to take their momentum into the section tournament,” noted Perham head coach Kevin Feldt.
Pelican Rapids held an 11-8 lead over Perham going into the seventh inning of game one, but the Yellowjackets scored five runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win. Joslyn Griffin (7IP, 7H, 11R, 7ER, 12BB, 11K) survived 12 walks to earn the complete game victory. She also drove in 5 runs with a 2-for-5 effort at the plate, including a triple and 4 steals. Other offensive leaders were Ashtyn Kunza (1-3, 2RBI, 3R, 3SB), Devin Solberg (1-4, RBI, R), Autumn Branchaud (3-3, 2R, 2SB), Molly Meyer (3-5, 2B, 3R, SB) and Morgan Smith (2-5, 2B, SB, RBI, R).
Leaders for the lady Vikings were Zayli Arrow (3-4, 2B, HR, 4RBI, R), Miren Thomas (2-4, 2 2B, 3R), Zayla Arrow (1-3, RBI, 3R) and J Bell (1-3 R). Zayli Arrow (7IP, 13H, 13R, 6ER, 1BB, 2K) took the loss in the circle.
Hitting leaders for the Yellowjackets in game two were Griffin (2-2, 3B, 4RBI, 2R, SB), Smith (2-2, 3SB, 4RBI, 2R), Ava Tobkin (1-2, 2SB, 2RBI, R), Meyer (1-1, 4SB, RBI, R) and Macey Minten (0-2, 2R, 2SB). Perham stole a total of 19 bases in the game.
Pelican Rapids was led by Zayla Arrow (2-2, 2B, RBI).
