A 14-run first inning powered Fergus Falls to a 20–5 win over Minnewaska Area on Friday at Delagoon Park.
Levi King earned the win, allowing five runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Connor Erickson took the loss for Minnewaska, giving up nine runs (eight earned) in one-third of an inning.
The rally began with a lead-off single by Logan Larson, and the Otters never looked back. Levi King (RBI single) and Brock Scheuerman (2-RBI single) followed with back-to-back hits. Micah Johnson ripped a 2-RBI triple, Parker Thielke walked, and Isaiah Holmes added another 2-RBI triple. Cam Wiederich was hit by a pitch, Larson dropped a perfect bunt to squeeze Holmes home, and Carston Fronning delivered a 2-RBI single. Hunter Powers followed with an RBI double. Johnson added another RBI single, Thielke drew his second walk of the inning, and Holmes capped the frame with his second hit—an RBI single that rounded out the Otters’ 14-run outburst.
Fergus Falls added two in the second on a Powers homer to right-center and two more in the third on a double by Brant Scheuerman.
The Otters racked up 15 hits. Johnson led the way, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Holmes, King, and Powers each collected two hits, and all three drove in three runs apiece. Wiederich and Jacob Fronning also contributed with one hit each.
Fergus Falls hosts Detroit Lakes for a Senior Night doubleheader Tuesday at Legion Field.
