Brandon-Evansville hosted Long Prairie-Grey Eagle in a non-conference softball game on Monday with the Thunder prevailing, 11-7, over the Chargers. C Becker launched a home run and drove in 3 runs on a pair of hits, and Madelyn Wehrspann went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI to lead LPGE.
Leaders for Brandon-Evansville were Hallie Richter (3-4, 2RBI, 2R) and Jorja White (2-3, 3B, R). Drea Fernholz, Madeline Stich, Ava Santjer, Mia Elmer and Gracie Fuller each drove in a run for the Chargers. Santjer, Fernholz and Stich all had a double and Fuller delivered a triple.
“We did some things well tonight, just not all at the same time to do what we needed to in order to win,” said B-E head coach Kasi Sieling. “Mia did a good job of battling in the circle, but we gave LPGE too many extra opportunities they took advantage of. I thought our hitters did a nice job of making adjustments in the box and hitting the ball hard. This was a tough game we will learn from and focus on a conference doubleheader vs Wheaton on Tuesday to conclude a 6 game in 6 day start to the season.”
Elmer went the distance, recording 9 strikeouts while walking 9 batters and allowing 11 hits and 6 earned runs.
