Addison Staples collected seven hits in eight at bats on Friday as the West Central Area lady Knights won a pair of games in Ada, beating Lake Park-Audubon, 23- 1 and defeating Ada-Borup/West by the score of 12-2. “It was good to finally get out on the field and play some softball after a long stretch of mostly indoor practices,” commented WCA head coach Troy Lohse. “The girls showed up ready to play and played very well. It was amazing to watch them play with so much confidence and smiles to go with it, I see this group doing some great things this season.”
Staples went 4-for-4 against the Raiders as the Knights produced 19 hits in the game and racked up 19 stolen bases. Madison Fagre had a pair of hits and a team high 3 runs batted in. Winning pitcher, Lily Mahoney (3.2IP, 9K, 3BB, H, R) also knocked in a pair of runs with a base hit. Brinley Ulrich drove in two runs with a single and a double.
In the win over the Cougars, Staples was 3-for-4 with a pair of singles and a double. Hannah Olson delivered two hits in four at bats and led the Knights with 4 runs batted in. WCA kept their aggressive base running going as they swiped 13 bags. Ashlyn Lohse (6IP, 9K, 7BB, 3H, 2R) was the winning pitcher.
The lady Knights will travel to play a Tuesday double header against BOLD.
