On a cold, rainy and windy day, the Hillcrest baseball team took the field for a doubleheader against visiting Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. Unfortunately, errors and limited time on the diamond gave the visiting Thunder a pair of victories 17-0 and 3-2.

In Game One, pitcher Carter Holman kept the Comets off balance as he struck out four on the way to the win for LPGE.

Comets pitcher Nate Bermel (2 1/3 IP) took the loss, while brother Jace Bermel (2/3 IP) finished out the game. Nate Bermel had the lone hit for Hillcrest in the game.

In the second game, the Comets struggled to hold on to a 2-0 lead but a late rally by the Thunder completed the sweep.

Luke McGuire (1-for-1) and Sean Berge (1-for-1, 3B) each recorded a hit for Hillcrest, while McGuire and Griffin Haus tallied RBIs.

Isaac Iverson took the loss after coming in for starter Will Heggland (1 IP) pitching one inning and striking out two.

The Comets will have a quick turnaround as they travel to take on St. John's Prep at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
