Devonie Smith begins her 3rd year as head coach of the Fergus Falls softball team, needing to fill some holes created by graduation, including having lost starting pitcher Rylynn Krein who is now competing collegiately at Miles City Community College in Montana.  Karyssa Eberle, Madi Budke, McKenzie Sjolie, and Bella Abrahams were also lost to graduation.

Returning starters from a team that went 7-14 a year ago, include seniors Karlie Petersen (3B), Carlana Zetah (1B), Alyssa Adams (OF) and Kendal Hanson (OF), along with returning letter winners Sophia Lee (2B) and Averie Ohren (OF), both juniors.

“Our senior have done a great job creating a welcoming environment in our high school program and we have some great leaders,” noted Coach Smith.  “I think a strength of our team is the cohesiveness among them.  They are great at supporting each other and building each other up, which will be really fun to watch this season.”

Junior Hattie Albertson (P), sophomore Evelyn Wedll (C) and freshman Isabella Landberg (SS) are expected to plug some holes in the varsity lineup.

Kari Krein (Assistant Varsity Coach), Sheri Smith (Head JV Coach), Maddy Godwin (Assistant JV Coach) and Sabrina Noon (Assistant Coach) round out the coaching staff.

Coach Smith points to Rocori, Brainerd and St. Cloud as teams to beat in the Central Lakes Conference.
