Alexandria senior Chase Thompson is the Olson Oil Company Athlete of the Week. Thompson was named to the All-Tournament team as the Cardinals claimed the Class AAA Boys Basketball Championship at Williams Arena on Saturday, finishing their season on a 25 game winning streak.
In the 82-70 quarterfinal round win over Byron, Thompson scored 10 points, pulled down 9 rebounds, dished out 2 assists, came up with one steal, and blocked a shot. The 73-65 semifinal round victory over Totino-Grace saw Thompson register a double-double with 33 points and 12 rebounds. He added 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. The Cards beat Mankato East, 73-64, in the title game and Thompson contributed 28 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steals and a blocked shot.
