Trojans End Season with Consolation Semifinal Loss to Caledonia

The season came to an end on Thursday for the Barnesville girls’ basketball team as they lost a 76-64 decision to Caledonia in the Class AA Consolation semifinals at Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University in St. Paul.  The Trojans finish their season with a final record of 22-8.

 

Barnesville shot 42% (21-50) from the field and hit 39% (-23) of their 3-point attempts, while making 13-of-18 (72%) of their free throws.  Abby John led the way with 25 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.  Sophie Frederick scored 12 points and Ava Follingstad added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Caledonia shot the ball well, making 50% (24-48) of their field goal attempts and 39% (7-18) of their 3’s.  They also went 21-for-32 (65.6%) on the line.  Barnesville won the rebounding battle 30-24, but struggled with 19 turnovers which led to 22 points.

Caledonia will face Sauk Centre for the consolation title on Friday at 2:00pm at Gangelhoff Center.
