Montana Carsten scored 18 points, making six 3’s, to lead Wadena-Deer Creek to a 53-49 victory over Frazee on Friday night.  Jada Dykhoff scored 13, Ashley Pavek had 11 and Payton Gravelle finished with 9 points.  “Great section 8AA battle on Friday at WDC ELEM,” said head coach Jordan Cresap of the Wolverines.  “It was an awesome environment for high school basketball. Shout-out to our fans for showing up and cheering loud.”

“Montana Carsten came up big with some hot shooting, and Ashley Pavek stepped up big time,” added Coach Cresap. “Thought our girls played some gritty defense down the stretch.”

Leaders for Frazee were Jayden Sonnenberg with 25 points, including 8-of-9 free throws, and Katie Courneya who had three 3’s among her 17 points.

Frazee (12-13) will open post season play at Thief River Falls on Thursday night, while Wadena-Deer Creek (17-9) will open Section 8AA tournament play at Hawley on Thursday.
