Freshman Regan Hemberger of the Perham girls’ basketball team is the Olson Oil Company Athlete of the Week.  Hemberger set a school record when she made 11 3-point field goals in a game at Frazee on Friday, February 7, missing only one shot from beyond the arc and scoring 34 points.  Perham won the game, 76-60.  The Yellowjackets tied their team record with 17 made 3’s in the game.

That game followed a 19 point effort in a 68-41 win at home against Crookston on Tuesday, February 4.  Hemberger was 5-for-14 on 3’s, dished out 4 assists and came up with a steal in the victory.

Her week ended with a 74-62 Perham loss to Duluth Marshall on Saturday, February 8.  Hemberger was 3-for-7 on 3’s and scored 9 points.  She also had 3 rebounds in the contest.

Coach TJ Super said this about Hemberger, “Although this might shock others, in Perham we’re not surprised about Regan’s shooting. If you walk by the gym, in the summer, fall, or winter, you’re bound to see Regan shooting. She made 75,000 shots this summer, she’s put in the work to be a great shooter! One great thing to see is her older teammates find her and trust her in big spots!”
