Hillcrest recorded a 71-51 Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball victory in Graceville on Tuesday night, beating CGB, 71-51.  The Comets led 36-13 at the half.  “The girls came out and had a good defensive first half, holding the Wolverines to 13 first half points,” stated head coach Hannah Clark.

Elsa Retzlaff (21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals), Aaveah Stender (14 points, 11 rebounds), Elin Retzlaff (12 points), Kate Olstad (10 points, 5 rebounds) and Ruby Peterson (9 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, 7 steals) were the leaders for the Comets.

“Elsa came back from illness and had a great first game back, scoring 21 points and grabbing 9 rebounds,” noted Coach Clark.  “Ruby controlled the game on both ends of the floor and contributed in so many ways.  Her passing and ability to get others involved is so valuable to our team.  Aaveah played well tonight.  She did a great job finding her spots around the basket and getting high percentage shots in the paint.  Defensively, she did a great job playing help defense, protecting the basket, and securing rebounds.”

Hillcrest (18-1) has a Little Eight Conference home game on Thursday against Parkers Prairie.
