Hillcrest put on a dominant performance Tuesday night, hosting the Ashby Arrows in a Little Eight Conference showdown. The Comets opened the game with an electrifying 24-0 run and never looked back, cruising to a 78-33 victory.

“Tonight, we came out ready to play,” said Hillcrest head coach Donavan Rogness. “The boys played tremendous defense. I'm proud of their efforts. They played a complete game.”

Nine different Hillcrest players contributed to the scoring effort, with four finishing in double figures. Preston Berge led the way with 17 points, followed by Lincoln Nash with 15, Kian Stender with 14, and Sean Berge adding 10. Junior Griffin Haus chipped in with 9 points.

The Comets were especially sharp from beyond the arc, knocking down 7-of-16 three-pointers.

With the win, Hillcrest improves to 13-5 on the season and now turns its focus to a key conference battle on Friday night against the 14-2 Border West Buccaneers.

“We were not physically, mentally, or emotionally ready to compete tonight,” said Ashby head coach John Holsten.  “Hillcrest was better than us in all phases of the game.  They dominated on the boards and in transition.”

Easton Nelson was the only Arrow player to reach double figures scoring 15 points.  Aiden Jeppesen was next with 6 points.  Traeton Nelson added five.  Jonas Johnson contributed a three pointer.  Eighth graders Finn Thompson and Henry Olson scored their first Varsity career points making three and one, respectively.

Ashby (7-11) has a home game with Hancock on Friday night.
