The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville Bolts ran at the Park Region Conference Meet on Tuesday at Double Eagle Golf Course. “It was a beautiful night for a race and the course was fast,” reported Bolts head coach Robert Bosma. “There are many talented runners in the conference and they were on display tonight.”

The girls started the night for the Bolts by running strong and fluid. They were all able to PR and pushed themselves through the race.
“Lauren Thoennes keeps pushing the school record every race,” said Bosma. “She got out to a fast start and ran with a couple of girls who just picked up speed throughout the race. One of her big goals this year was to be All-Conference, which she achieved with a 9th place finish.
Another All-Conference runner was Courtney Paulson. She and Lexi Bitzan ran most of the race together in a small pack of girls. They both looked solid and ran smart races. Courtney had a great kick at the end to place 14th. Lexi was able to hold on to 20th place for All-Conference Honorable Mention.”
Hope Rovang, Vy Bui, and Rita Fossell all were able to achieve big goals on the night as well. “All three set times to beat a couple weeks ago and all three did it tonight,” said Coach Bosma. “They've all had this barrier to overcome and as the race was going on, they knew their times and pushed through to achieve their goal.”
Bosman continued, “On the boys’ team, Benjamin Myron, August Bredberg, and Kenneth Spielman again fought the race with each other. They had a great strategy and used each other for strength. They all had the goal to be under 19 minutes as they have been running in that range the last couple meets. With about a quarter mile to go in the race, they all wanted to know their time to hit that goal. They didn't realize until after they finished that they were so much ahead of where they wanted to be. Benjamin finished as All-Conference (15th) and August (16th) and Kenneth (17th) were Honorable Mention.
Ben Bui and Cole Johnson also hit big goals, breaking under 22 and 23 minutes respectively.
“Dylan Johnson and Donell Lee were able to run together and use each other as they went. It is good to see Donell back to running form and he had a solid performance,” added Coach Bosma.
The Varsity will head to Sections next week in Wadena and the Junior High runners will head to Wayzata next Saturday (10/26) for the Junior High State Meet.
