Underwood defeated Henning 3-1 (25-10, 23-25, 25-15, 25-22) on Tuesday night in a non-conference volleyball match on the Hornets home court. “We played a much more complete game with good passing and a higher team hitting efficiency as well as a very balanced attack,” reported Rockets head coach Breck Grove. “These are things we have been working on and stressing in practice so it is good to see things come together. Henning is always scrappy and they have a young team with athletic players. They will definitely be a strong contender in the future.”
Six different players served up a total of 10 aces to lead a solid serving performance (91/97) by the Rockets. Top servers were Mily Albjerg (22/22, 2 aces), Sia Olson (17/17, 1 ace), Kallyn Grove (19/20, 2 aces), Maggie Hoekstra (10/10, 2 aces) and Esme Larsen (12/15, 1 ace). Aubrey Hexum and Lauren Hexum also had an ace each.
Grove distributed 37 set assists and the attack at the net was led by Albjerg (16 kills), Grove (14 kills, Hannah Hexum (10 kills) and Larsen (7 kills).
Defensively, Olson came up with a team high34 digs. Albjerg added 18, Grove 13, Larsen 11 and Lauren Hexum 10.
