The M State volleyball team handed first year head coach Laura Tungseth a victory in her debut on Wednesday night in Fergus Falls. The lady Spartans defeated the Ridgewater Warriors, 3-1 (25-19, 14-25, 25-23, 28-26) to open their season and Tungseth's college coaching career.
Sophomore outside hitter Madi Foss had an impactful night with 22 kills. Felicity LeBlanc had 8 kills, Lucy Meier delivered 6 kills and BrookeLinn Finkelson added 5.
Kaisa Jones distributed 40 set assists. Foss and Meier each had 3 blocks and LeBlanc contributed two.
Serving leaders were Meier, Brooklyn Christianson and Katie Hess who were all perfect on the line. Foss had two of the 6 aces served up by the Spartans who served 93.9% as a team.
M State will host Western Technical College Saturday at noon.
