Hillcrest traveled to Moorhead on Tuesday night for a volleyball match against Park Christian.  The Comets came out on top, beating the Falcons in 3 sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18.  “There was solid play on both sides of the net, and you can tell that it’s early in the season for both team,” observed Hillcrest head coach Debi Foss.

Peterson (15/15) and Elsa Retzlaff (12/12) also had stellar serving performances which helped set the tone for the match.

The offensive effort was balanced again for the Comets with Emily Adams and Ella Knutson each contributing 8 kills, while Miller and Retzlaff had 4 kills apiece and Peterson finished with 5 kills.

Defensively, Retzlaff led with 15 digs, followed by Peterson and Knutson with 12 each.  Adams finished with 10 digs, Miller with 9 and junior, Maddie Miller had 3.

“There was a ton of net play tonight and it made an impact, especially in the second set,” noted Coach Foss.  “We’ve definitely got some adjustments to make, but overall it seems like we are off to a promising start.”

Hillcrest will travel to Battle Lake on Thursday for their first Little Eight Conference match of the season.
