Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 played Perham in an elimination game on Friday in Alexandria. Post 30 led for most of the game, but Perham would find a way to string together a threat in the bottom of the 7th inning and find a little luck for the 2-1 win.

Carston Fronning started on the mound and was tremendous in a complete game effort ( 6.2 IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 7K)

Leading hitters were Hunter Powers (2-2, BB), Brock Scheuerman (2-2, 2B, RBI), and Isaiah Holmes (1-3, 3B).

The game was a pitchers duel until the top of the 6th inning when Post 30 would break through with a run. After two outs were recorded Powers singled to center, and Scheuerman came up with a clutch RBI double to deep center to score Powers.

Perham would not go down easily though. Leading off the bottom of the 7th. After one out was recorded the Buzz put runners on 1st and 2nd via a hit by pitch , and a walk. They tied the game on a single to center, and scored the winning run on an infield single.

"Today just wasn’t our day, we couldn’t get much going offensively," commented Head Coach Trevor Larson.  "Give Perham credit they kept us off balance the entire game. Fronning was outstanding today and he deserved to get the win, sometimes in baseball you just get a weird bounce or two they can be the deciding play in a game.

"As a staff, we are proud the boys this season and the strides and achievements they accomplished. These playoffs proved exactly what we already knew which is that we are right there with the big time programs in our district. To beat Bemidji after being down 5-0 going into the last inning( eventual champs) and to have Alexandria on the ropes , Perham down most the game should have the boys feeling good going into an important off season. We will return 8 out of our 9 starters."

Larson concluded with, "I’d like to thank Super Senior Ben Swanson for a great 4 years in the program and the leadership he provided this summer! Also a huge thank you to the American Legion Post 30 for sponsoring us. The people there are the best and do so much for the program , Mary, Tom, Rick, and many others are vitally important to our program. Billy Gronwold and Kathy Larson for driving the bus to away games. Last but not least to my assistant coaches Tosten Mann and Cole Knudson for their dedication to the game !
